Brake Clearance Information
In the engineering phase of wheel development we 3D scan factory brakes and review 2D aftermarket brake templates in order to optimize our barrel profiles and spoke curvatures. As a result, our wheels offer massive brake clearance so you can run the smallest possible wheel diameter.
All 17" & 18" APEX BRZ wheels were designed to clear the factory Performance Package Brembo Brakes.

The All-Purpose 17" Wheel Fitment
This fitment is ready-to-bolt-on, typically without modifications, and provides a meaningful increase in wheel width over stock. 17” wheels keep weight and tire costs to a minimum, allow for improved ride quality, and will still clear factory Performance Package Brembo brakes with ease.
The 17x9” ET42 wheels fill out the fenders of the 86/BRZ providing a flush fitment without poking past the fenders, and they do not typically require any modifications. When it comes to 9” wheels, the ET42 offset keeps the wheel inboard closer to the suspension to give enthusiasts as much outer fender clearance as possible.
Performance Package / TRD Sachs struts will require a minimum of 5mm spacers to clear the front suspension for most track/race oriented compounds in 245 and 255 widths. For these scenarios, our slightly more aggressive 17x9” ET35 wheels listed below in the next section are a great option as they offer 7mm of extra inner suspension clearance and avoid the need for spacers.

The Aggressive 17" Fitment
This flush wheel fitment has great inner strut clearance which is an added benefit for PP/TRD owners with Sachs struts, and may require a touch of negative camber to clear the fenders. 17” wheels keep weight and tire costs to a minimum, allow for taller tire sidewalls, and will still clear factory Performance Package Brembo brakes.
The 17x9” ET35 wheels sit 7mm closer to the fender edge in comparison to the 17x9” ET42 wheels listed above, and in-turn offer 7mm of extra inner suspension clearance. This makes these wheels a great solution for BRZ drivers with Performance Package Sachs struts who want to run wide tires and avoid the use of spacers. With the stock alignment these wheels will typically poke slightly past the fenders, therefore, a small amount of negative camber is recommended.

The Widest 17" Track/Race Fitment
Perfect for weekend track warriors and hard core racers seeking maximum tire sidewall support. These aggressive wheel specs will require supportive modifications commonly found on track cars. 17” wheels keep weight and tire costs to a minimum, allow for taller tire sidewalls, and will still clear factory Performance Package Brembo brakes.
Aftermarket coilovers with a slimmer silhouette in comparison to the stock struts are required. Not all aftermarket coilovers provide a slim enough silhouette to accommodate 9.5” wheels without the use of spacers, so please contact an APEX product expert if you have any questions. These wide wheel and tire configurations may make contact with your inner tie rods.

The Widest 18" Track/Race Fitment
Perfect for enthusiasts seeking 18” wheels in a maximum width to support up to 265 wide tires. These aggressive wheel specs will require supportive modifications like aftermarket coilovers and negative camber to fit properly. 18” wheels look awesome and maximize brake clearance, but ride quality may not be quite as good as 17” options.
Aftermarket coilovers with a slimmer silhouette in comparison to the stock struts are required. Not all aftermarket coilovers provide a slim enough silhouette to accommodate 9.5” wheels without the use of spacers, so please contact an APEX product expert if you have any questions.

Should I Dial in Negative Camber, and How Much is Right for me?
Whether you are a casual weekend track warrior that still enjoys your car on the street, or a hardcore racer competing for a spot on the podium, negative camber is a vital part of chassis setup that has many benefits. Not only will adding negative camber create more room for wider wheel and tire configurations, it more importantly improves handling, turn-in and tire longevity.
